The Revised Edition was released in order to clean up a number of rules
problems that the Limited Edition and
Unlimited Edition rules had.
The cards still had white borders and no expansion symbol, but the
fake 3-D beveling was removed, and the art was lightened up considerably.
Revised Edition cards can be told from the Unlimited Edition ones because
the Unlimited Edition cards used a fake 3-D look to the edge of the card
(a bevel). The Revised Edition cards use just a single thin black line.
In addition the color of Revised Edition cards looks washed out.
The 306 card set's breakdown by rarity looks like this:
121 Rares |
95 Uncommons |
75 Commons |
15 Land |
Note: Due to the printing process, it is possible to get land cards in an
uncommon or common card slot. The chance is approximately 21.5% for uncommons
and 38.02% for commons. This is because they put lands on all the
uncommon and common sheets. You never get a land in a rare slot.
Note: Due to a printing error, the Serendib Efreet
was printed with a green background and the picture of the
Ifh-Biff Efreet. It still has the proper casting cost and
text, however.
35 of the cards in the Unlimited Edition were

About half of the 306 cards in this set had text or formatting changes
when released in this edition.
This set introduced the idea of a "tap" symbol. It was a letter 'T'
turned 45 degrees to the side. This symbol was replaced in
Fourth Edition with a rotating arrow because
the 'T' did not work in other languages.
Cards were available from mid April 1994 through mid April 1995.
The print run is estimated at 500 million cards.
