Vanguard cards are used to play Magic where each player starts the game with
one of these cards in play. These cards alter your starting life total and
starting hand size. They may also act to change the rules of the game.
As part of the Arena league, medium format cards (4 inches by 3 inches) were
given out to players. These cards were also given out in magazines and
conventions.
