The Ice Age expansion set was printed with black borders on the face of the
cards.
Cards can be identified by the
expansion symbol on the right hand
side of the middle section. The expansion symbol is a
snowflake ().

It was released in early June 1995 and went out of print in February 1996,
although it did not really dwindle in availability until the end of 1996.
The print run is estimated at 500 million cards.

Each starter deck included a rulebook with the
Fourth Edition rules plus some
special rules for cards
that appeared in the expansion.

60 card starter decks (3 rare, 9 uncommon, 26 common, 22 land, rulebook) originally retailed for $8.95. 10 decks per box.
15 card booster packs (1 rare, 3 uncommon, 11 common) originally retailed for $2.95. 36 packs per box.
Several of the common cards were released in magazines prior to the release
of the set. They were also given out to Duelist Convocation members.

Ice Age was part of a cycle that includes
Homelands and Alliances.
An additional set, Coldsnap, was released 10 years
later and is considered a follow-on to Ice Age and Alliances.
