The Urza's Destiny expansion set was printed with black borders on the face
of the cards. Cards can be identified by the expansion symbol on the
right hand side of the middle section. The expansion symbol is a
flask (a bottle used for scientific experiments). The expansion symbol is
black for common cards ()
silver for uncommon cards ()
and gold for rare cards ().
It was released on June 7, 1999.
This set contains foil premium cards. These cards are
identical to the normal cards in name, text, etc. They are just printed
with a metalic foil finish. Every card in this set has a foil version.
Foil versions of common cards appear in the common card slot in about
one in 12 boosters. Foil versions of uncommon cards appear in an uncommon
slot in about one in 20 boosters. Foil versions of rare cards appear in
a rare slot in about one in 40 boosters.
The 143 card set's breakdown by rarity looks like this:
Normal | Foil |
44 Rares | 44 Rare Foils |
44 Uncommons | 44 Uncommon Foils |
55 Commons | 55 Common Foils |
Note: Due to a collation error, some Urza's Destiny booster packs
contain unexpected cards in the uncommon slot. These cards are:
Stroke of Genius, Pouncing Jaguar, Gaea's Cradle, Thran Quarry,
Rewind, Skittering Skirge, Duress, Serra Avatar, Karn Silver Golem, and
Lightning Bolt. These cards appear in as foil cards! They were being
printed for use as prizes in DCI and Arena programs (and will still be used
as such) but also can appear in Urza's Destiny boosters.
In addition to the booster packs, four preconstructed decks were
available with a mixture of Urza's Saga,
Urza's Legacy, and Urza's Destiny cards.
Cards were written under the rules used for Sixth Edition
and Seventh Edition.
These lists and others can also be found on the
lists page.
